The reverse has a handwritten inscription in lead pencil reading `NESTOR 11/10/15'. Below the inscription is a stamp reading `tel. 1966 Hawthorn... J.E. Barnes press & outdoor photographer Kew, Melb.'. 11 October was the day the photographer's son, Victor Earl Barnes, embarked on HMAT NESTOR for service with the 14th Battalion.
