Soldiers eating dinner at a makeshift table outside of their dugout. The photograph is taken from a higher point than the dinners and so the whole scene is at a slight angle. There is a dugout entrance in the background which is framed with blankets and canvas. Two soldiers have just emerged. At the front there is a rickety table covered in a white cloth with five soldiers sitting round it. It is thought that this light-hearted scene was captured by John Warwick Brooke.
