Floor Lamp, RKO Studios, c. 1920 (det. of base)
What was thought to be an end table turns out to be the lower half of a floor lamp with a small tabletop. The upper/lamp part and all wiring have been removed. The floor lamp can be dated to the early 1920s and surprisingly (to me at least), in all likelihood came from RKO Studios. This provenance is based on strong similarities this piece bears to another, complete floor lamp in a private collection in Los Angeles that has the RKO name and address stamped on it. That lamp is also painted the same dingy green and has gilding, although less well preserved than this one. Image by CG Hughes
